USC Racing Competes in Lincoln, NE

After months of design and construction, USC Racing, our student racing team, travelled to Lincoln, Nebraska for the 2016 Formula SAE West competition. The event was held at the Lincoln Airpark from June 15-18, 2016.

USC Racing finished 27th overall out of 80 schools at FSAE Lincoln this year. This is an improvement of 13 spots compared to last year. Unfortunately we weren’t able to finish the endurance event due to an electrical issue with our dashboard ignition switch, which prevented us to re-start the car and get back on the track after the driver change and finish the endurance event. Without this I have no doubt that USC Racing would have finished in the top 15 since our drivers were accomplishing top 10 times during the first portion of the endurance event and the car was mechanically very strong and fast.

Below are our overall standings in the different events:

Dynamic Events
Acceleration Event 9th (Team’s best finish to date)
Skidpad Event 20th (Team’s best finish to date)
Autocross Event 23rd (Team’s best finish to date)
Endurance Event DNF (Only 21 cars out of 80 finished the event)
Static Events
Design Presentation 15th (Team’s best finish to date)
Business Presentation 23rd
Cost 57th

All these “team’s best finishes” wouldn’t have been possible without support from all of our sponsors, so the team and I would like to thank them for all the support they showed us this year and we are ready to do even better next year.
