ASPEN Team Members at the 36th International Electric Propulsion Conference at Imperial College, London
USC’s undergraduate-led Advanced Spacecraft Propulsion Laboratory (ASPEN) presented two papers at the 39th International Electric Propulsion Conference (IEPC) at Imperial College, London (14-19 September, 2025).
ASPEN members presented the development of their EP lab capabilities, the current state of their adamantane-based thruster and simulations to determine both adamantane ionization chemistry and thruster performance. Associate Professor Matthew Gilpin, the ASPEN advisor, said: “IEPC is the premier EP conference worldwide, and presenting at this conference is a tremendous achievement and opportunity for our students. ASPEN has made huge advances in their capability this past year and I’m looking forward to further work on the Asteria project as well as the team’s new goal of constructing a student-designed hall-effect thruster.”
